Posting this here because I've seen three people ask about it this week. If the mod loader crashes before the main menu, first test with no mods installed. Then add them back one at a time.

Mine crashes after the logo. I removed everything except the loader and it still crashes.
What version are you using?
1.8.2. Loader says 1.8 compatible.
Make sure you didn't leave an old config file behind. I had a loader crash because a config from 1.7 was still sitting there.
Found it. Deleted the old config and it loads.
Good. That's why I keep saying clean installs. Half of mod troubleshooting is finding the one tiny file everyone forgot about.
