Run the server executable once so it creates the config files.
Then open server.properties and set the port and world name.
You'll also need to forward the server port on your router if your friends are connecting from outside your network.
Don't forget to whitelist people if it's only for friends.
Makes life a lot easier than banning randoms later.
Got the server running locally. I think the router part is what I was missing.
Yep. Test it from another computer on your network first.
If that works, then test from outside. Saves a lot of guessing.
